Key West Historic Inns is seeking a motivated, hands-on Engineering Supervisor to support the daily operations of our Engineering department. This role is ideal for a skilled maintenance professional who enjoys leading by example, troubleshooting building systems, and ensuring our hotels remain safe, well-maintained, and ready to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
Working closely with the Engineering Manager, the Engineering Supervisor coordinates the daily activities of the Engineering team, assigns work orders, monitors preventive maintenance, and assists with the repair and maintenance of hotel facilities and equipment. This position serves as the department's operational leader during assigned shifts, providing guidance, technical support, and direction to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.
The Engineering Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining team productivity, promoting safe work practices, addressing maintenance concerns, and supporting seamless hotel operations through strong communication, organization, and a commitment to service excellence.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical, trade school, or vocational training in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or a related field preferred.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of hotel, institutional, commercial building, or HVAC systems experience preferred.
• Previous management, supervisory, or lead maintenance experience of two (2) to three (3) years preferred.
• Refrigeration, HVAC certification, EPA certification, journeyman-level experience, or other applicable trade certifications are highly preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, emergency, and preventive maintenance systems, as well as all related building disciplines.
• Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining building systems and equipment in a hospitality or commercial environment.
• Ability to lead by example, motivate team members, and foster a positive, safety-focused work environment.
• Strong organizational, time management, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer and administrative skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with guests, team members, vendors, and all levels of leadership.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, fire and life safety standards, environmental compliance, and applicable building codes.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• Must meet the minimum age requirement of the jurisdiction.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-ins as business needs require.
