We are seeking a dynamic Recreation Manager to join our vibrant hotel or resort and oversee our recreational activities. The Program manager creates an atmosphere of exceptionally warm and gracious service for our guests and members and an enjoyable work environment for our team members; is responsible for the daily supervision and training of Sporting Clays and Hunting Grounds team members; acts as the department director in the absence of a director; creates a positive impact for our guests, Members, team members, and the resort property; and functions as liaison between the management company, contracted organization, and resort ownership. There are no gun handling responsibilities in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the sporting clays course layout is regularly updated to provide an engaging mix of target presentations for a variety of skill levels
  • Liaises with Wildlife Manager to ensure appropriate development and maintenance of hunting courses to provide appropriate habitat and an authentic hunting experience
  • Provide Shooting Grounds tours for event planners and potential members
  • Liaise with the Outpost team members to maximize the number Shooting Grounds activity bookings
  • Recruit, supervise and retain Shooting Grounds staff
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA, ATF, Department of Natural Resources and resort regulations
  • Ensure daily duties are performed by team members in a timely manner and in accordance with departmental SOPs. This will typically happen through appropriate training, scheduling and coaching. In situations where we are short-staffed or have high business demands this could mean assisting subordinates in their roles or performing their duties
  • Observe the flow of guest and colleague activity, noting and sharing opportunities for improving process and policy with the appropriate department head
  • Establish positive relationships with the guests and vendors, handling all guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism, accommodating. special requests whenever possible
  • Resolve and respond to all guest complaints, concerns and criticism using the established Guest Opportunity Process and Empowerment Guidelines. Ensure all guest opportunities are reported through the appropriate platforms.
  • Maintain security of keys, banks, facilities, vehicles and guest items; ensure all lost and found goods are reported and stored in accordance with resort standards
  • Liaise with other departments and managers with regards to guest requests and expectations, following up on requests to ensure satisfaction
  • Carry out systematic checks of facilities, equipment and vehicles for needed maintenance, repairs or refurbishing
  • Address violations of policy or service issues, swiftly and in accordance with resort corrective action standards; recommend and/or advise on additional training, corrective action, commendation and/or promotion
  • Monitor and adjust staffing levels to meet guest and budgetary expectations
  • Ensure that all facilities including back of house areas, restrooms, porches and driveways are tidy and attractive as well as transportation vehicles
  • Communicate and uphold a departmental vision that is aligned with the Resort’s Mission, Vision and Values as well as the vision of any management or contract organizations
  • Create an atmosphere of ongoing training and development, with continuous coaching
  • Maintain a working environment where all team members feel comfortable addressing their concerns; foster respect for and follow the appropriate chain of command in addressing issues
  • Ensure that expenses are kept within budgeted limits
  • Submit timely and accurate reports and service charge sheets
  • Maintain acceptable level of required supplies, submitting requests or POs in an accurate and timely manner
  • Attend leadership team meetings and other meetings as required
  • Participate in resort teambuilding activities and events as required
  • Consistently conduct and document Safety Audits of the grounds
  • Monitor and maintain the condition of the dog kennels
  • Audit and ensure preventative maintenance of all equipment
  • Protect the value of all assets for ownership and report any issues
  • Prepare and present weekly reports to the General Manager to follow up on items or concerns and ensure all issues are resolved as quickly as possible
  • Focus on ensuring a premiere guest experience with every guest encounter

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Shooting Sports/Hunting Management, or five (5) years sporting clays or hunting or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other Team Members and public.
  • Familiar with local area and attractions.
  • Meet minimum age requirement of jurisdiction.
  • Outgoing, enthusiastic and personable.
  • Good organization skills and attention to detail.
  • A passion for creating memorable experiences and satisfying the needs of others
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities, working independently, taking initiative while motivating and managing others
  • Ability to respond properly in any emergency or safety situations
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
  • A valid driver’s license is required
  • CPR and First Aid Certification required
