The iconic Asher Adams, an Autograph Collection Hotel, is an adaptive reuse of the historic Union Pacific Depot. The proposed project includes a new 8-story, 212-key infrastructure, alongside an additional 13 keys in the renovated Depot, totaling 225 keys altogether. The full-service lifestyle luxury hotel will be a first of its kind in the Salt Lake City market. The irreplaceable nature of this generational asset earned it a designation from the Historic Landmark Commission, both for its cultural significance and striking appearance. The property is located across the street from Delta Center, home of the NBA’s Utah Jazz and over 150 events scheduled annually at the 18,000-person arena.

Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable and service driven sommerlier to enhance our guest experience through expert wine recommendation and sales on the dining floor.  This role combines hospitality, wine expertise and salesmanship to drive beverage revenue while ensuring guests enjoy seamless personalized service The successful candidate is expected to join our team  in providing an exceptional dining experience for our guests. As a Restaurant Supervisor, you assist the Restaurant Manager with training and development of staff and will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our restaurant, managing staff, and ensuring excellent service delivery. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in the hospitality industry, with exceptional leadership skills and a customer-focused approach. Responsibilities

  • Guest Engagement & Wine Sales
    • Recommend and serve wines that complement menu offerings and guest preferences.
    • Drive wine sales through proactive floor presence and upselling techniques.
    • Guide guests through the wine list and provide pairing suggestions.
  • Service Execution
    • Perform tableside wine service, including opening, decanting, and pouring with proper technique.
    • Support front-of-house staff with wine knowledge and service assistance.
    • Collaborate with servers and managers to ensure smooth service flow.
  • Inventory & Program Support
    • Assist with wine inventory management, including restocking and organization.
    • Maintain cleanliness and organization of wine storage areas.
    • Provide input on wine list updates and new additions.
  • Training & Education
    • Educate staff on wine selections, pairings, and service standards through pre-shift tastings or training sessions.
    • Stay current on wine trends, vintages, and regional offerings.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Certified Sommelier (CMS Level 1 / 2 or equivalent) preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of wine service experience in a fine dining or upscale environment.
  • Strong knowledge of wine regions, varietals, vintages, and food pairings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for hospitality and guest satisfaction.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Preferred Skills:

  • Additional language skills (e.g., French, Italian, or Spanish) are a plus.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and inventory software.
  • Experience with high-end wine programs and reserve lists.
